Sailing away from Cozumel

Docked next to us on this visit to Cozumel was Royal Caribbean's ship Radiance of the Seas.
She is one of the RCI (Royal Caribbean International) ships that I like. She's smaller than the CB and unlike the bigger RCI ships she doesn't have a shopping mall running down the center of the ship. She is more of a traditional cruise ship, lacking in water sports parks on the top deck. Less fun for kids perhaps but that's ok with me.

If you have kids and they like the excitement of a water park then the new ships of NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line) and the bigger Carnival ships have lots to keep them occupied. I like my upper ship's decks to have as much free space as possible. In the case of the ship we are sailing on there are a total of 5 pools (one is a splash pool for kid's only). The Royal Caribbean ships have rock climbing walls and surf simulators. Princess is more about relaxing with a cold drink by a fresh-water pool and that suits me (and the millions of Princess cruisers) just fine.

We live in the cabin to the right of the man standing on his suite balcony

This is our last of three ports and the last time we will board the ship. The next dock she will tie up at is Bayport, Houston and there our cruise will end.

When you return to your ship after a hot day ashore they will have chilled towels for you to wipe your face and hands with. You will pass through a security scanner once you are on board. If you are taking bottles of Duty-Free liquor on board they will be taken from you and returned to you the night before you leave the ship.

Over at the other pier passengers are returning to the two Carnival ships- Triumph and Legend

At 5 pm all the ships start to leave port and the shopkeepers and bars can start counting their money.
At each pier is a Duty Free shop and they are always busy just before sailing.

The Pilot boat has already left our ship and so we can pick up speed as we head back to the USA.

Now we could relax on our balcony and enjoy the sunset as it sets around 6 pm in the Caribbean in the winter.

Once the sun goes down it is time to get changed for dinner. Tonight is the 2nd Formal Night so we are expected to dress for dinner. We enjoy the fresh air on the Promenade Deck.

This deck is usually quiet at night as most people are at dinner  or attending a show. We use it to get from one end of the ship to the other without having to pass through the crowded interior hall.

The full moon shines down over the water. One of the other ships from Cozumel is in the distance, keeping pace with us.

Next up-dinner and a live show.
