Munich-a bird's eye view

To give you a better view of Munich, as you've just seen little corners of it to date, here are some photos from on high, taken when we visited the landmark known as Frauenkirche, a church with twin domes near Marienplatz.

The distinctive twin domes rising to a height of 325 feet. Built 1524

The Ferris Wheel, top right, is in the park where Oktoberfest is held (photo taken in Sept. 03)

In the center of this next photo is the Bavarian Opera House which we visited at the start of this journey.

 Seen from ground level

As you can see the streets are not laid out in a grid, which just adds complexity to finding your way around by car.

This next one shows the Marienplatz tower where the jousting knights do battle ( the square at right)

In the distance at center is the TV tower at Olympic Park and the tall rounded building over on the right is BMW Headquarters

The second tower

Back down to Earth and making our way down the pedestrian-only streets

Right about now it would be more relaxing to be sitting in a beer garden.....
