Morning in Lucerne

After a good night's sleep we took a walk back by the Reuss river to find a spot where we could have breakfast outdoors.

This allowed us a good view of the pretty church we had seen in the dark the night before

A nice relaxing way to start the day and get the energy to explore

No matter which way you turn your head in Lucerne your eyes see beauty

The Reuss river has some barriers that make the water run faster, like rapids

Above the town sits a  luxury hotel, Chateau Gutsch, sitting empty at the time we were there, but since re-opened after refurbishment. Great location!

We crossed the river on the covered bridge

We walked away from the river and through the narrow shopping streets.

A typical Swiss family out shopping

We walked back to our hotel for a brief rest before our planned afternoon excursion-to Triebshen, the house on Lake Luzern that Richard Wagner lived in from 1866 to 1872 before moving permanently to Bayreuth, Germany.
