The Cliff House

Another in the scenic dining series. A visit to the Cliff House, West of the city as far as you can go before submerging in the Pacific Ocean. Point Lobos is the location. The road goes down towards the sea and then takes a left turn and continues on to a wide sandy, windswept beach. Where that turn is you'll find the Cliff House.

There is dining on multiple levels and sea views aplenty. There's a casual bistro on the upper level and a finer dining room down below which is called Sutro's. There are also a couple of bars. Parking is free on the street.

Looking South to the wide sandy beach.

And North to the former site of the building-the watery bit behind the wall. It was known as Sutro's Swimming Baths and the current restaurants have many historical photos of people in the '30s taking a dip.

There are mighty rocks known as Seal Rocks as they are home to seals. (makes sense)
Big ships pass by on their way to and from China and the Far East.

We like to dine before sunset when there is a Western view involved.

Before and after dinner, a stroll, breathing in the fresh sea air tinged with Eau de Sealion Parfum.
For an animal that spends all day bathing they sure smell funky!

The photos are taken from two separate visits- a lunch and a dinner on different days.

Let's look inside.......

This is Sutro's downstairs where we have eaten.

Bar area

Dining area with BIG windows. Nice.

My appetizer - Ahi tuna with a quail egg and some random pine nuts. Yummy.

Stunning lemon sorbet dessert.

Let's do lunch........
