Pompeii conclusion

We were managing to stay ahead of the crowds coming behind us and were now heading towards the exit from this point onwards.

We came to the center of Pompeii where the important buildings had been-temples and government offices etc

I noticed some bright stones in the street as we were walking-these I think were shards of quartz that would reflect light on a moonlit night as an aid to those walking in the dark.

We are leaving the 1st century behind and entering back into the 21st.....

We were, step by step, entering back into a world of busses, espresso makers, cell phones, fridge magnets, tee shirts, Centurion re-enacters, tattoos, lip piercings, sneakers, noise, wi-fi, cameras and video recorders. Happy to be back and safe from a volcanic eruption today.
The Centurions in costume were posing with visitors for a fee. You can see one of them just to the left of center in the red cloak.

We had another 20 minute break here. We used the bathrooms in a beautiful cameo store but we weren't shopping. More tour buses were coming in and some guides were trying to gather all their people for busses that were leaving-  for some it was like herding cats.

Maria gathered our group and we set off to find our bus and continue on our journey as we were heading back to Sorrento and then along the Amalfi Coast for lunch in the scenic town of Positano.
