Paradise Point

Before we get to Paradise Point, here is a video of our excursion to Mountaintop and St Peter Great House.....

We got off our excursion bus down by the seafront in St Thomas rather than return to the ship.

Unfortunately we were soon spotted by a pirate ship! They probably thought we had been shopping for Diamonds in one of the many jewelry stores

We had to jump into the nearest taxi to get away before they landed

Paradise Point is a scenic overlook near the Havensight dock that affords great views of the harbors if you pay them $21 to take you to the top in a Swiss-built gondola. Think ski resort...

There was construction work going on at the top-to expand the facilities. It was still going on when we visited two years later...."Island Time"

There was a bar and a casual restaurant serving Caribbean food

The Ruby is way in the distance, left of center

The Ruby sits at the Crown Bay dock

As we weren't going to have lunch there we just took some photos and admired the view. A Nature Trail caught our eye but due to the construction it was closed.

So we went back down the mountain in the cable car and got a taxi back to the ship. It was one of those open air taxis with room for 12 people or so but on this trip it was just us and the lady driver.
Traffic downtown was heavy and we found ourselves driving through the narrow shopping streets with jewelry stores lining the route. "Endless Jewelry Street" I think I called it. We have no interest in buying jewelry.

Here's a video of our ascent to Paradise Point and then the drive back to the ship.....
