More Piazza fun

The Piazza on Princess ships is a hub of activity all day long. There are places to eat around it, a wine bar, boutique shops and help desks. Many people pull up a comfy chair and spend hours talking to new-found friends. During the day various entertainers stop by to amuse the crowd.

I don't spend much time there but pass through the Piazza many times a day on my way to somewhere-Pub Lunch, a show etc. Sometimes when I get there a crowd has gathered on all three decks watching something...

This act for instance-Ludo and Lucy. Remember- he is on a fast moving ship...

It's our first Sea Day which also means it will be a Formal Night where the expectation is that you dress for dinner- tuxedos or suits for the men and evening gowns for the ladies. Most people get into the spirit of the thing. Those who don't want to participate dine in the buffet that night or in one of the Specialty Restaurants, in this case Sabatini's or the Crown Grill. We have brought our fancy duds that we wear to the Opera so we join in and fit in with the elegant theme.

Before dinner another Princess Tradition takes place in the Piazza- The Champagne Waterfall where guests line up to help the Maitre D' (the man in charge of restaurant service) pour  bottles of champagne into a pyramid of glasses....

Before the show the pyramid of glasses is partially filled with red water

It's harmless fun for those who participate in it. If you ever are on a ship and see me participating please take me by my arm and lead me back to my cabin for a lie-down as I am obviously not feeling well.

The show has gathered a crowd of well-dressed folks to the Piazza and that's a good thing. As waiters walk around offering champagne to guests the Captain and Senior officers are on their way. It is time for the Captain's Welcome Aboard speech, often the only time you will see him during a voyage. The introductions are by the Cruise Director, the person responsible for the entertainment on board the ship. (video....)

Now we can go eat!!! We are in the Michelangelo Dining Room. People are also eating in the Da Vinci and Botticelli Dining Rooms (video)

After a pleasant dinner it was time for a walk on deck. As you saw in the video the water that night was choppy. Neither of us get sea sick which is a blessing.

Then some live entertainment (probably Karaoke for us) and to bed to be rocked gently to sleep...
