Butterfly farm

The bus left the market area of Marigot

and drove along the coast

An old shipwreck left to rust offshore

The roads are narrow and winding and very hilly

We pass close to local houses where laundry has been hung out to dry

There's a green cage with a pet lizard in this garden

A cemetery

At last we leave the narrow main road and turn into the Butterfly Farm

The Butterflies are kept outdoors where they have room to fly. There is mesh netting all around and above to stop them flying away-no butterflies-no farm. No farm- no tourist business!

Our guide was a British gentleman who had been living on the island for 20 years after visiting it on holiday. We was very informative and very witty. After learning what we needed to know about Butterflies we were free to roam the compound.

I can't identify all the species that follow- to me they are all just Butterflies and everyone is beautiful

This looks like an Immunity Idol from the Survivor TV show...

Here and there feeders hang-similar to a hummingbird feeder as the Butterflies drink their food

They seem attracted to brightly colored exotic plants

Carol finds a bench to rest on

to be continued...
