Monday, last day in Houston

Monday began with coffee at Minuti, as before, progressed to a hot buffet breakfast in the Lancaster Hotel at 9a.m After breakfast we had 4 hours before we would be be leaving for the airport to fly home to Chicago.

Our plan was to visit Hermann Park-yes where the Museum was yesterday (and still is today!) and visit the Japanese Gardens. When in San Francisco we visit the Japanese Gardens in Golden Gate Park so when we found there was one in Houston we couldn't resist.

Once again we take the train from Main street. There's a stop on the Fannin South line for the Japanese Gardens. Again, beautiful sunny Houston weather and a great time to stroll the quiet gardens.

Every city needs a green space like Hermann Park where you can be among trees, walk by water and enjoy the peace of Nature away from the noise and traffic of the people rushing here and there.

There's no rushing here. No charge either-it is free to enjoy

Ornamental Japanese fish too

All is quiet, all is calm. It's a place to relax.

A 90 minute visit to the park and it was time to return to our hotel to pack

Once the staff packed the luggage in the car we drove away, down Texas Avenue

Off to the airport and a two hour flight to Chicago...

Next up- a cruise to the Western Caribbean visiting Roatan (dolphins!), Belize and the Mexican Island of Cozumel
